A child, tip-toe-
ing handlebars

through twigs and
tufts of grass.

Willow feathers
nesting at

the knuckle
of each hand.

Whose wriggling
legs keel just

enough to keep
from tumbling sideways

and whose sky,
its simple pail of blue,

sifts traffic lights
of tree tops.

Fistfuls of
freckles nestled in

the shade
of sleeping branches.

Two sets of

wheels wobbling
in tandem.

Her world,
an anthology of leaves.
